I really enjoyed it!

...That doesn't really surprise anyone, does it?

Heroes 3x06 review with spoilers )

I think that being an old X-Files fan (first six seasons, anyway) and growing up reading comic books is what deepened my love for complicated plots and whodunit senarios in television shows. I like trying to figure things out, and I wonder if some of the Heroes fans who have stopped watching the show found it too taxing to maintain interest. Not that there's anything wrong with wanting to watch TV to relax or what have you, of course, but part of the enjoyment I get from watching is because of the convoluted storylines.

Off to read Beeman's Blog!

ETA: Whoa, someone had a good thought in the comments of Beeman's Blog: )

It's as though the day just can't begin until I've gone to the gym, had dinner, and watched Heroes. My day so far has just been one long, extended morning.

To kill some time, here's a quiz I nabbed from fernwithy that determines what American accent you have - it got mine dead on. I never realized I actually had an accent other than standard American-that-you'd-hear-on-television, but apparently I do )

I was going to post more, but I'm thinking that all that's going to come out is nonsense. I can never think straight on Mondays. I should go read some fic that I've seen posted for months. I struggle with giving insightful feedback, though. Usually all I come up with is "Wow, I really liked that! This is awesome! :D :D :D". But I'm going to try. : )

The last chapter of the first book of [livejournal.com profile] seraphtrevs' epic Heroes story was posted yesterday. Look for the first chapter of Book Two: Spring on Wednesday, October 22nd!

If You Were the Last Man on Earth

Book One: Winter
Chapter One: A Dubious Rescue, An Improbable Savior, and The Subtle Pleasures of Accurate Time-Keeping
Chapter Two: Clockwork Comfort and Terrifying Tenderness at the Rest and Service Station
Chapter Three: The Trouble with Cockroaches, or Domestic Bliss in Piedmont, Missouri
Chapter Four: How to Keep Your Man: And Keep Him for Good

PS: I just had a look at the end of Book Two. asdfjklasdfkl!! >:D

___

I just finished watching Meet the Press where Colin Powell gave his endorsement of Barack Obama. He also made a statement condemning the unsubtle associations made by members of the McCain campain between Muslims and terrorists. My mother and I both shouted at the tv, "It's about time somebody said that!" It really needs to be said more often.

I've been remiss in my reccing! The next chapter of [livejournal.com profile] seraphtrevs' epic Heroes story was posted Wednesday. The fourth part will be posted tomorrow, Saturday, October 18th. After tomorrow, Book One will have been posted in its entirety. :D

In other news, just three days of work this week, and I'm done in. I want to say that I will not stay up late to watch politics or baseball ever again, but I'd be lying to myself. OMG PHILLIES! IN THE WORLD SERIES! It still hasn't sunk in yet. :D And not long after that, there's that election thing that's happening... hmmm.

Tomorrow I'd better make the effort to stock up on some more caffeine.

First thought? Holy crap! It's a wild ride, and I'm really enjoying it. This might be the place where the over-arching story of the season really hits its stride. Everything is beginning to come together. I'll add more later, but for now, there's a baseball game to finish watching and a shower to take. :D

ETA: And now with added Heroes 3x05 Review! )

And in other news: YAY PHILLIES! :D :D :D

It is, however, my parents' 29th anniversary. :D

___

I have an ever-growing list of smells that cause headaches and/or nausea.

Normal things, like milldew and bleach, I just try to avoid as much as possible. Autopsy bays are a separate hell that I hope to never have to visit again. Anyway, I can now add wallpaper paste to the list. Oh, nose.

___

Aaaand, t-minus three hours until Heroes comes on tonight. I've got some books to read, pumpkin raisin scones to eat, and decaf tea to drink in the meantime. :D

The next chapter of [livejournal.com profile] seraphtrevs' epic Heroes story is now up. The next part will be posted on Wednesday, October 15th. I'm not just reccing this because I'm beta-reading the story - I really, really enjoy it. If ever there had been a post-apocalytic future because of the Shanti virus, this is how it would play out (yes, slash and all :D).

[livejournal.com profile] seraphtrevs has begun posting her epic Mohinder/Sylar post-apocalyptic story, which I guarantee will suck you in. I'm really enjoying the world she has created in it, and I feel really privileged to have been able to discuss her ideas with her as she's been writing. Characterization was always a key point of our talks, as we both agreed that it's the driving force between the two characters. Also, this story has adventure, comedy, drama, and my very favorite, hurt/comfort. A lot of research has gone into it, as well, which makes my little scientist heart proud. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

So! Heroes 3x04 initial thoughts post! )

In other news, I watched Chuck for the first time today and enjoyed it. I don't know what the cipher is, but that didn't detract from my laughing and aw-he's-so-cute-and-adorkable-ing, so it was all good.

My dear [livejournal.com profile] seraphtrevs has posted her first Heroes story, Hopeful Monster. It fills in the missing time between the Heroes season 3 episodes 3x01 and 3x02 as regards to the character she and I most love to torture, Mohinder Suresh. It's gen and over two thousand words long, so go forth and read it!

I love it when stories have a go at filling in missing time from the episodes; as audience members we are frequently left scratching our heads as to the evolution of events as depicted on our tv screens, and this story does a great job of giving us some peace of mind on that front.

Plus, it's got Mohinder-angst. What more do you want? :D

So here's my Heroes premiere review, which I actually wrote in response to [livejournal.com profile] seraphtrevs' review here. I guess mine would make more sense if you read hers first. : )

I thought the premiere was awesome, and here's why. (SPOILERS, don'tcha know) )

So in short, yeah, I can't wait until next week! Good job, Heroes!

I left my ADD-laden review over at [livejournal.com profile] seraphtrevs' lj. In short, I'm totally psyched for the rest of the season because there's some really scary business going down in Heroes-land. I'm not even going to let the 13 pages of comment-wank at [livejournal.com profile] heroes_tv get me down, no sir. :D

Also, the guy Matt meets in the desert - Rafiki from The Lion King! Staff and everything! Anyone else think so? :D?

...yeah, I'm going to go get some much-needed coffee now. I'm so, so glad I didn't have to get up early today. Whew.

So my Heroes filtered friends list is about to explode in T-minus... er, now.

(!) :D

I was thrilled to discover that Greg Beeman's blog, Beaming Beeman was updated on Monday with its newest post since last December. It's got some spoilers, if you're nervous, but it also has some behind-the-scenes photos (some old, some new), too. I just love Greg Beeman's enthusiasm; it really shines through.

Holy mackerel... I can hardly believe that the premiere day is almost here! I wouldn't've believed it if you told me then, but time really has flown between July and now.

ETA: If you haven't yet seen Jack Coleman's blog, The HRG Files, over at the site Television Without Pity, check that out, too. I've always enjoyed his interviews, and I like his sense of humor.

I found this posted on the 10th Wonder forum's spoiler thread. It's a seven minute interview with Allan Arkush. There are spoilers within, so fair warning.

Spoiler discussion space! )

The news has gotten me so down these last couple of days; I've got to get out and find something that'll cheer me up. I think that after I run my errands today, I'm going to settle down in the AC and watch a couple of episodes from the Heroes season two dvds I got last week but have barely touched. Then I'll hit the gym this afternoon to burn away my rage... :D

At least there are less than three weeks until the premiere! It's something to look forward to, at any rate.

I fell asleep before Hillary Clinton's speech last night. Originally, I was getting angry ("Why is it on so late? This is ridiculous! Oh, wait, different time zone, yeah..."), but my anger quickly burned off, and I was out like a light. Thank you, news blogs, for catching me up.

----

I have a suggestion for Heroes fans: don't watch the official season 3 trailer that was posted on [livejournal.com profile] heroes_tv if you don't want to be spoiled. It's a fantastic trailer - very edge-of-your-seat - but personally, I think it spoils at least one great line from the premiere that really should have stayed a surprise for people. If you've seen the trailer already, you'll know the line I mean, and it's a great comedic moment in the episode (one of several, actually - it really is a great episode).

Eh, spoilers are funny things; I hate watching movie trailers to movies I plan on seeing because they use parts of the film which would otherwise have been great surprises. One of the best movie experiences I ever had was watching Jurassic Park on the big screen during its opening week. I hadn't seen a single trailer for the movie before my dad said, "Hey, do you want to go see a movie about dinosaurs?" It remains one of my all-time favorites.

I studiously avoided watching any trailers for The Dark Knight this time around, and I felt the same way.

Long story short, trailers that are just teasers are great fun, but I think you risk too much in the way of surprises by watching the full trailer. That being said, I loved the premiere episode of Heroes when I saw it at Comic Con, and I'm definitely excited to see it again in September. Had I not seen the first episode at all, I'm sure that I'd cave in and watch it. But I'd be mad at myself later if I did.

So after lurking in various fandoms for the last 13 years, I finally popped my fic-posting cherry over at [livejournal.com profile] mohinder_gen. Erm... that probably wasn't the best analogy for the situation, but there you go. : ) Quite simply, I love Mohinder, I love Molly, and I love... reading about daily life? Yeah, something like that. :D
