Spacecraft to Slam Into the Moon

"Scientists are plotting out a "crash course" in learning what happens when a European lunar probe slams into the Moon."

Um... what do you think will happen? It will hurtle toward the moon's surface and smash into bits after impact. And people spent money on this?

The name of the probe is "SMART-1". You know, just for added irony.

I've gotten an unexpected day off today. So, hmm. I'm at a loss as to what to do with my time. There are tons of things I can be doing - should be doing, as a matter of fact - but. Here I am. Quelle surprise, really.

____

I feel like sharing.

One of my all-time favorite albums is Cat Steven's Tea for the Tillerman. There's something about it - maybe because I grew up listening to it in the car on long trips as a child - that gives me warm fuzzies.

Here's Miles from Nowhere via Yousendit. It's an uplifting song, or so I've always thought. Anyway, the record is worth getting still, despite being from 1970 - ha!

I've been doing a lot of work with ESL students since I began my job, and I was thinking that it'd be cool to make a mix CD of music in different languages for the students. From my own music collection, I've got songs in German, French, Japanese, Swahili (or Acoli, I don't know the difference), Hawaiian, Lakota Sioux, and Welsh. However, my students are from Bosnia, Lithuania, Slovakia, South Korea, Turkey, Ukraine, China, Egypt, and Liberia. Some of the Eastern European students speak Russian also, so songs from there would be pretty cool. I remember a long time ago being signed up with mp3.com so that I could download world music, but I'd get spam from them, so I was hoping to find another alternative. I also don't want to clutter up my computer with Kazaa or anything like that. Short of browsing Borders for inexpensive albums, I'm kind of at a loss.

I'm giving myself until "winter break" to get a CD put together, so we'll see.

Heh, all of this spawned from my wanting to bake cookies for them, but since Ramadan started, five of our students are fasting. How cruel would that be, bringing in food then? :^P

ETA: And the groans of disappointment coming from the living room? Make me so not want to subject myself to the stress of the Red Sox-Yankees game... and yet, it calls to me...
