I really enjoyed it!

...That doesn't really surprise anyone, does it?

Heroes 3x06: The Dying of the Light

First up, the rollcall: Hmm... we only got a glimpse of Noah Bennet this episode; we're still missing Elle, the Haitian, and now Maya (more or less). Who else? Lyle? Mr. Muggles? Otherwise, this was a pretty character-heavy episode, except that it didn't feel that way. Why? Because we've got way more characters working together, narrowing the storylines. And I love it - in this way, Heroes Season 3 is going back to its roots in Season 1 where we built toward a single storyline.

Hiro & Ando: Great to see them working together again. I was glad to see that Ando was in on his "death" at the beginning of the story, too. Having them team up with Usutu could be a lot of fun and good help for Hiro to solve some of those pesky future problems.

Claire, Meredith, Sandra: So, so glad they defeated the creepy Puppetmaster man, Eric Doyle. Also, while I'm usually only marginally interested in Claire's storyline, I think the addition of Sandra as a "hero" really made the scenes work for me. Sandra, unlike her daughter, can actually get hurt, which leant that needed sense of urgency to the situation. It's going to be interesting having Meredith team up with HRG and what that may do with both of their relationships with Claire.

Sylar: Oh, Sylar. Your bio-dad is going to put you back on the path to the darkside, isn't he? And I was really enjoying trying-to-redeem-himself!Sylar, too.

Peter: I think this is what his character needs. I was hoping that the writers would find a way to strip Peter of his powers; a major criticism of his character is that he's too powerful. The second season tried to deal with that by giving him amnesia, but that was just a stop-gap measure. This could really open things up in the story and help to show us the core of his character - the empathic, caring man who genuinely wants to do good in the world. And without his powers, maybe he won't fail quite so badly. :D

Daphne & Matt: We could have placed Daphne in a couple of different places, such as with Hiro & Ando or Sylar, but I think it was ultimately more important to the plot when she was with Matt. I really like those two together - they're adorable. Also, I just plain really like Daphne. I know it's not a good idea to hold out hope that someone sticks around on this show, but what can I say? She's awesome.

Also, the tortoise. High five! :D

Nathan, Tracy, Mohinder: Tracy was freaking amazing during her escape. I actually cheered at the television screen. Poor Nathan didn't have much to do, but that's okay since his girlfriend was able to try to save him. Mohinder throwing the table was keeping in character, too. >: ) I thought it was interesting that Mohinder showed some remorse for what he has done... and then went right back to being the mad scientist. lol!

Knox: I hope we get to see more of him than just as Pinehearst's "thug". Maybe he can see the light through Daphne, and they can eventually tag-team and turn on Pinehearst and creepy Papatrelli.

Maury Parkman: He's totally whipped by Arthur. And yet, I don't want his paws anywhere near Matt. The man is way too creepy.

And, finally, can we have a moment of silence for Adam Munroe? It's Heroes, so there's always hope that he could come back (even in a flashback, which would be more realistic). Hopefully David Anders has a more permanent gig on the horizon; I'd tune into a new show (something I rarely ever do) just to watch him.

I think that being an old X-Files fan (first six seasons, anyway) and growing up reading comic books is what deepened my love for complicated plots and whodunit senarios in television shows. I like trying to figure things out, and I wonder if some of the Heroes fans who have stopped watching the show found it too taxing to maintain interest. Not that there's anything wrong with wanting to watch TV to relax or what have you, of course, but part of the enjoyment I get from watching is because of the convoluted storylines.

Off to read Beeman's Blog!

ETA:

Now that Peter's powers are gone, he can get his scar! That totally didn't even occur to me. I'm not sure if that will happen (Milo V. would have to have the darn thing applied for the rest of the show's run if that were to happen), but it would be awesome continuity-wise.
