First thought? Holy crap! It's a wild ride, and I'm really enjoying it. This might be the place where the over-arching story of the season really hits its stride. Everything is beginning to come together. I'll add more later, but for now, there's a baseball game to finish watching and a shower to take. :D

So, this week's missing characters and storylines: Matt & Usutu, Future Peter (because he's dead - yippee! I feel so much less confused this week), The Haitian, and... Lyle? Mr. Muggles? Surely I must be forgetting someone else! Despite seeing so many characters tonight, I felt as though I really grasped the story for the first time in a while. A big part of that is having so many characters coming together, which I've been really looking forward to.

Hiro, Ando, and Adam: C'mon, you don't really think that Ando is dead, do you? Why else did they show Hiro playing with his ability so much at the beginning when he kept putting Kensei back in the coffin (which was hilarious - I hadn't realized how much I missed David Anders until Kensei made his comeback)? I'm betting that Hiro stopped time and doctored Ando up somehow. This could be the straw that breaks Ando's back if he's left behind again, though. And I realize that this volume is all about the good and bad in people, but it would actually be kind of refreshing if they didn't go that route with these two guys. I like them being antagonistic with each other, but ultimately showing the strength of their friendship in the end. We shall see.

Mohinder: I loved seeing him in the woods, scoping out the drug dealers. He's definitely rationalizing his actions ("it's really not a bad thing to use these abilities if I'm stopping bad people - right?"); what he ultimately does with his "prey", though, I'm really curious to see. It definitely seems as though the people are paralyzed (except for their eyelids, of course - funny how that works :D). I'm starting to really dig this story.

I was also glad to see Maya try to be a hero even though she ended up being captured. The scene where she nearly cries was outstanding. Mohinder was strangely sexy with the eyes-of-death, too. Must be that instinctual attraction to dilated pupils - at any rate, I approve.

Oh, and I loved it when we saw Mohinder's Pinehearst file mixed in with those of the other villains, too. This is going to be fun. >: )

Nathan, Tracy, and Angela: I thought it was interesting how Angela begged Nathan for help, and he flat out refused to listen to her. That actually kind of shocked me, and I'm not sure why. It was quite the bombshell learning that Nathan had been born without the power gene and was experimented on, so I guess I really can't blame him for shutting down. Angela's freaky prophetic dream was just as tense as before (and gross!). I found it interesting how they waited until the very end of the show to reveal Arthur Petrelli when the previews for the episode made it seem as though that was going to be the focus of tonight's story. I'm glad it wasn't the focus of the show - it was great having an episode which brings all of these characters together.

Claire: I love how she was able to be talked down by the black hole guy - she hasn't descended into full-blown villainy yet, and I'm glad. It's more realistic this way. I don't know how she's going to be able to reconcile with HRG after this, though. He definitely crossed a line tonight.

Sylar: I may be in the minority here, but I love the direction his character is taking. Had Sylar stayed a plain and simple villain, how would that have helped the Heroes story? As far as paths to redemption go, this really works for me. He's not over his homicidal tendencies by any stretch of the imagination, and that's a good thing. Like other dark-characters-turned-light in comics history, his struggle to remain in the light will be an interesting conflict to watch. Of course, after all of this volume's villains are rounded up, I could definitely see Sylar slipping back into the darkness unless he has another goal or purpose to which he can attach himself. I'd like to see him possibly split from the team at some point as a rogue agent... hey, do I smell a parallel to Marvel's Wolverine here? :D

And lest I forget to mention it, that broken-neck-setting moment was totally cringe-inducing. So, so gross. Good job, Heroes!

The Villains: So we've got Maury Parkman playing Linderman for Nathan and Daphne - whoa! How did he get out of his mind trap? I can only speculate that it has something to do with Arthur Petrelli's ability. And Knox and Daphne are working for Arthur. I get that Daphne has worked for him in the past, but I'm surprised that Knox fell in with that group. Maybe he was once a non-powered individual who was experimented on by Pinehearst, too. Heck, Daphne could be in the same boat for all that we know. And now they have Adam so they can cure Arthur. The plot thickens! :D

And I can't forget this new Puppetmaster character. Holy heck, that's a creepy ability. The scene with him and Meredith skeeved me right out. I hope that she's able to fry him at some point in revenge.

Okay, in conclusion, can it be next Monday yet?! I'm hooked. :D
