In just a few more hours my mother and I will be taking our cat to the vet to be put to sleep. The last few days as her health's declined, it seems all I've done is alternated between bouts of crying and feeling numb. I want it to be over for her, and more selfishly, for us. This day is rivalling some others from the past in terms of suckiness.
