Earthquake!

Is it inappropriate to feel giddy after experiencing my first earthquake? Initial reports are of a magnitude 5.8 centered in Virginia. But it was totally amazing...!

Lol, I was thinking of you when I heard about this! It is kind of a neat experience, as long as there's no major damage (which I don't think there has been).

Hee! Nope, nothing too major was damaged that I'm aware of. Even my cousins in Richmond, VA were fine, and that's only 30 some miles from the epicenter. I guess there were areas where chimneys and walls collapsed, but no one was seriously hurt, which is pretty amazing given that our infrastructure is so old (we don't need earthquakes to collapse bridges - they do that on their own!) and not built with earthquakes in mind.

Still, once I realized something in the neighborhood hadn't been bombed or exploded, it was definitely cool. It took 30 years, but I've finally experienced it! :D
