Wow, I had no idea that there was so much anti-America propoganda being spread in North Korea until I watched The Daily Show repeat yesterday evening. If you haven't seen the interview with Mike Kim, an amazing man who has worked to get people smuggled out of North Korea, you've got to see it. I mean, Kim Jong-Il is seen as a deity? Holy crap. That's all kinds of messed up!

Also, I get that we're still technically at war with them (what with there only having been a truce declared and no peace treaty signed after the Korean War), but that was a long time ago! Geez louise!

I saw that too and was all D:. It is totally horrifying what's going on there. That guy is so incredibly brave.

And - I guess maybe I'm missing what the strategy is, but it seemed like sort of a dick move that the pamphleteers were printing pro-democracy stuff on images of Kim Jong-Il so that North Koreans could end up being arrested if they threw them out AND if they kept them.

He is incredibly brave! I think that was one of the reasons I wanted to link the interview here - it feels good to bask in the incredible-ness of others. :)

but it seemed like sort of a dick move...

Ahahahaha! Agreed! I was kind of making the 'waitaminit...' face when I watched it the first time. I guess their only solution is to leave the pamphlets lay where they find them.

But seriously, Jon Stewart is right - Kim Jong-Il totally seems like a crazy super villain. And also, even if he were to launch a missile at Hawaii tomorrow, like various intelligence reports have stated that he wants to do, what's to stop the US from just sending some drones over there to bomb the heck out of them?

I'm confused at the crazy. :|
